Striker Sam Vokes was last night named the overall Burnley Supporters’ Clubs’ Player of the Year in the James Hargreaves Suite at Turf Moor.

The 24-year-old, currently sidelined after surgery on a ruptured anterior cruciate knee ligament, scored 21 goals in all competitions in a momentous season, which will end in promotion to the Premier League.

Vokes said: “It’s a great feeling winning the awards, especially as it’s down to the fans really and they’re the people who come week in week out.

“It’s great to be recognised by them.
